Charlotte Street Opening Party
April 2018
By Rosie Jones

We were delighted to attend the launch event for CVP and Arri’s new store in Charlotte Street, London, which we have been working on since January this year. This has been a whirlwind project – only three months from being appointed by the client, to finishing on site – but we have thoroughly enjoyed the high pace and the opportunity to work with such a fantastic client and contractor.

The brief was to design a new shop and workspace for CVP to showcase Arri digital cameras and lighting equipment; products which are targeted at professionals working in the TV and Film industry.

On the main shop floor, bespoke display cases glow like light boxes, bouncing light off the equipment from all angles to highlight their form and design. We used LED Light Sheet by Applelec, made bespoke in the UK, to achieve the evenly distributed light within each display alcove. The central display units are on wheels, to allow the room to be rearranged and opened up for larger events.

The lower ground floor will be used as a flexible shared workspace and to host meetings, training and events. This space has a more domestic feel than the upstairs display area, with contemporary living room furniture, an open plan kitchen/bar and new WC facilities tucked under the stairs. The new kitchen features Valchromat doors, a Carrara marble worktop and thin stave oak panelled walls.

It was a fantastic opening event – our clients sure know how to throw a party – and it’s always a thrill to see our work occupied and being used as we had imagined.
